We do not allow tandem passengers to wear full face helmets for a couple of reasons. First, full face helmets prevent passengers from hearing instructions. It’s critical that the passenger can hear the tandem instructor’s directives at all times. Second, a hard helmet presents a danger to the tandem instructor if they were to get hit in the face by the helmet. The tandem equipment manufacturers all mandate that no passenger wear hard helmets for this reason.
We do provide optional leather padded helmets which provide some protect against minor incursions. Tandem passengers may wear full face ski balaclavas if they are concerned about cold temperatures.
